ABOUT THE SHOW

This is the classic story of Cinderella,

but with a focus on character agency.

Cinderella asks for help, the Prince chooses his own fate,

and the happily ever after looks a little different.

This operatic adaptation is set to the music of Gilbert and Sullivan,

featuring songs from some of their most popular operettas.

FROM STAGE TO SCREEN

In 2014, Grace Kane was cast in the Towson University children’s opera ensemble known as “Opera-in-a-can.” Though a cast was chosen, the company had not yet decided on a show. Grace took a look at the cast list and realized, “this is a perfect cast for Cinderella!”

Since a children’s opera version of Cinderella didn’t seem to exist yet, Grace set off to make it herself...but she soon realized that she couldn’t do it alone. So she approached a dear friend, T.P Huth, who has a vast knowledge of opera, playwriting, and children’s theatre. Together they created CINDERELLA: A Children’s Opera!

The show premiered at Towson University, before going on to a sold out run at Annapolis Opera and a tour throughout the Maryland school system.

After the Annapolis Opera run closed in 2016, Cinderella: A Children’s Opera lay dormant for 5 years. . .

UNTIL NOW!
